We're not a traditional law firm.
That's the point.

About McKenzie Legal & HR

We do things differently. Here's why.

McKenzie Legal & HR works with small and medium businesses across England and Wales on the legal and HR challenges that come with running a business – contracts, debt recovery, employment, wills, and more. We work directly with clients and charge fees agreed upfront where possible.

The business was built on a straightforward idea: that small and medium businesses deserve proper legal and HR support without the price tag that usually comes with it. That means honest advice, including when the honest answer is that something isn’t worth pursuing, and no unnecessary complexity. Our clients are busy, they’re often dealing with something stressful, and they don’t need it made more complicated than it already is.

Meet the Team

The people you’ll actually be working with.

Rachael Rogers

Legal & Business Support

I am a legal executive lawyer, and expert in contractual matters, terms and conditions, debt recovery, employment law, wills and power of attorney. I work directly with clients to protect their business interests –  whether that’s sorting out unpaid invoices, getting the right contracts in place, or ensuring employment documents are up to date.  I give honest advice and tell you what you need to hear rather than what’s easiest to say.

Carrie Abraham

Business Administration & Operations

I ensure the smooth running of McKenzie Legal & HR, handling administration, business accounts, and social media management. While I work behind the scenes, I help keep everything organised and running efficiently. From managing financial records to overseeing the business’s online presence, my support allows the legal team to focus on delivering the best possible service to clients.

Leah Rickwood

Wills & Estate Planning

I am a Litigation Executive and McKenzie Legal & HR’s trusted partner for Wills, Estate Planning and Power of Attorney matters. I help protect your future by ensuring your wishes are clearly documented. Whether you need a will or guidance on estate planning, I make the process simple, straightforward, and stress-free, giving you and your family complete peace of mind.

FAQs

McKenzie Legal & HR is not a traditional solicitor practice. That means no billing by the six-minute unit, no file being passed between people you’ve never met. Our team includes qualified Chartered Legal Executives who work directly with clients – giving honest advice, agreeing fees upfront where possible, and telling you what you need to hear rather than what’s easiest to say.

An initial telephone consultation is £50 for 30 minutes or £75 for 45 minutes. If you instruct us within 7 days, the consultation fee is deducted from your first invoice. There’s no obligation after the call.

We work with small and medium businesses across England and Wales – catering, trades, healthcare, construction, and many others. If your sector isn’t listed, that’s not a reason not to call. If we can help, we will. If we can’t, we’ll tell you.

There are three ways to work with us. You can instruct us on a one-off basis for a specific matter, with fees agreed before we start. You can use our pay-as-you-go starter package – 3 hours for £595, valid for 6 months, maximum two purchases per period. Or you can take out a retainer for ongoing support at a fixed monthly fee. Find out more on our Retainers page.

That’s fine – most clients start with one specific matter. We offer one-off contract reviews, individual document drafting, and standalone advice on a fixed-fee basis where possible. Book a £50 consultation and we’ll confirm exactly what’s involved and what it will cost before you commit to anything.

We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours (Mon-Fri excl bank holidays) and provide fast turnaround times for urgent matters.

Yes. Many of our clients use us as their dedicated legal and HR team through our retainer packages – regular access to the team for a fixed monthly fee (from £495), without the cost of an in-house hire. Find out more on our Retainers page.

We have offices in Wokingham, Berkshire; Congleton, Cheshire; and Broadstairs, Kent. We work with businesses across England and Wales- in person where practical, remotely where preferred. Location is rarely a barrier.
